Since its foundation, the Travel and Tourism Research Association, dedicated to individuals in promoting effectiveness and quality of marketing and tourism research, has been pursuing the following aims: to increase the efficiency and quality of tourism research; to promote understanding and knowledge of tourism research within the industry; to contribute to collection and dissemination of tourism-related information to researchers, politicians and industries. The Association's key objectives include: the encouragement of professional growth of marketers, tourism researchers, developers and planners; the promotion of co-operation between tourism users and producers; the promotion of government research's expansion; and support of the effective management within the travel and tourism industry.
The membership of the Travel and Tourism Research Association is composed of two categories, namely Premier Membership designed for professional members with high level of research; and Professional Organization Membership offering the same level of services and benefits for organizations and corporations with multiple members. Thus, among the members of the Association are tourism research suppliers, research professionals with a particular interest in networking with industry peers, industry practitioners striving for professional development, and students and academics eager to share research results across the broader tourism community.
TTRA membership is beneficial to those interested in exploring new research trends, determining effectiveness of their promotional campaigns, and networking with similar organizations in all sectors of tourism and travel research industry, forecasting, or using research data for making strategic and tactical decisions. The members of the Travel and Tourism Research Association reside worldwide, which allows you to draw on diverse experiences.

Currently there are 795 active members, 85% of which are members of a regional chapter. The Travel and Tourism Research Association has nine professional chapters and two student chapters, some of them providing complimentary membership with no extra fees.
TTRA offers six separate membership levels, namely Academic Organization, Professional Organization, Student, Standard, Premier and Lifetime. Each level of membership is provided with a wide range of benefits that may include web site listings, a subscription to different periodicals, and promotional and conference registration discounts. All the Association's membership terms run from January through December. All members must first become members of TTRA International.
